The "Atma" Villa in Zakopane
|
Zakopane gmina: Zakopane |
The "Atma" Villa (“atma” is Sanskrit for “soul”) was erected in 1893 by Józef Kaspruś Stoch, and rebuilt in its current form in the early C20th. In the 1930s Karol Szymanowski, the greatest Polish composer after Fryderyk Chopin, lived and worked here. Currently the building houses the only biographical museum in his name. It constitutes a unique opportunity to get to know the life and personality of this great figure. The memorabilia found in the villa demonstrates the author’s link to Zakopane culture. |
