Just Local government: Łososina Dolna |
The Church of the Nativity of the BVM on the St. Just Pass (400m above sea level) was erected or heavily renovated in the C17th, then enlarged in the C18th. Legend claims that it was built on the site of St. Just’s hermitage. It is a small, boarded, log-construction building, covered by a single-ridge roof. The chancel, which is narrower than the nave, is closed on three sides and has a small sacristy attached. The C17th baroque main altar contains a painting of the so-called “Just” Our Lady of Częstochowa. Additionally inside the church you can view a painting of St. Just from 1677, which is an example of the folk baroque style. |
