The bourgeois buildings in Muszyna
|
Muszyna gmina: Muszyna |
The bourgeois buildings in Muszyna mainly date from the C19th. Unfortunately those that have been preserved are significantly altered from their original state. The layout consisted of a residence situated gable-end on to the line of the market square (or street) frontage, with farm buildings set further from the road. These were two-bay buildings, the front bay containing the living room, and the back – the kitchen, and sometimes also a larder. The houses were close together, and between them there were narrow passages, the so-called “miedzuchy, where wooden gutters hung, shared between the neighbouring houses. To this day some of the buildings on Kościelna Street have retained this historical character. |
