The Auxiliary Church of the Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sosnowice
|
Sosnowice gmina: Brzeźnica |
The Auxiliary Church of the Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sosnowice was erected in the second half of the C16th under the patronage of the Strzała family, the Sosnowice landlords, as a small filial church of the parish in Paszkówka. During repairs to the church at the end of the C19th new shoring was added and the interior décor was painted. The walls and ceilings display polychrome decoration with figurative and geometric motifs. The nave ceiling includes a plafond representing the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and two cartouches with the Jakubowicz coat of arms, the Sosnowice landlords at that time. On the roof above the nave you can see a baroque turret with a lantern, added in the C17th. |
