The bell-tower of St. Nicholas’ Church in Skała
|
Skała Local government: Skała |
The bell-tower of St. Nicholas’ Church in Skała was rebuilt after the church fire of 1765. The building is fixed on a stone foundation and was built using post-frame construction to a square plan. It has slanting walls and is divided into two floors. The ground-floor walls have rectangular openings carved in them through which you can see the fascinating roof construction. The bell-tower is capped with a bell-shaped mansard cupola; it is on the south-west edge of the church. Inside are hung bells that were cast in 1767 by Baltazar Roszkiewicz from Piotrków. |
