| The "Pod Jedlami" ("Beneath the Fir Trees") Villa on Koziniec St., founded by Jan Gwalbert Pawlikowski, was erected in the years 1896-1897, based on a design by Stanisław Witkiewicz. The building constitutes a leading example of the Zakopane style. The harmonious appearance of the building is enhanced by the wood-carving decoration, characteristic for the style. For years the villa was a meeting place for representatives of Polish and World culture. The interior has retained its original, historical fittings right up to the present day, including furniture designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz and Wojciech Brzega. |
